Refund Registration Form
When is the self-assessment deadline?
All tradesmen who subcontract on a construction site of any kind will most likely be registered on the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). This scheme allows the government to take tax from your monthly wages from your main contractor. Unlike most self-employed people you will be paying tax as you go but you will still be required to complete a UK tax return every before the self-assessment deadline.
When is the CIS self-assessment deadline?
The deadline for paper tax returns has already passed as it was midnight 31st October. However, most people will complete an online tax return. The deadline for an online tax return is midnight 31st January 2018. There are penalties if you submit your tax return late so it’s important make sure you do it on time.
What are the penalties?
You’ll get a £100 penalty if your tax return is up to 3 months late. If it’s more than 3 months late you’ll have to pay more. Penalties can be appealed. In fact, we specialise in getting penalties cancelled. But it’s better to make sure you submit you return on time.
How do I complete my self-assessment tax return?
That’s the easy bit. Leave it to us. We are CIS experts. We’ve helped thousands of tradesmen complete their CIS tax returns since we opened in 1992. What’s even better is that you’ll probably be entitled to a tax refund and we’ll know exactly how much you should be owed.
If you need help cancelling penalties because you missed the deadline or help completing your 2017/18 tax return get in touch now. To find out if you’re eligible for a tax refund see our eligibility checker or tax refund calculator to see how much you’re owed.
